How can Ayurveda help you?
Ayurveda is a holistic approach to medicine, originating in northern India over 5,000 years ago. The Sanskrit word ‘Ayurveda’ translates to ‘knowledge of life.’ It takes into account the body and all of its functions as a whole unit, as well as the lifestyle a person leads. This includes their habits, preferences, mental strength, digestive power, daily routine etc.
Diseases are treated with natural remedies through massage and herbs. Although Ayurveda stresses prevention as the best medicine. Charaka, the father of Ayurveda says “if diet is good, no medicine is needed. If diet is not good, no medicine is needed.”
A proper diet is essential to health. But it is not the answer to a balanced life on its own. Mental and spiritual health are just as important as that of the physical body. And of course mental health plays a role in how we treat the physical body, such as the kind of diet we give it.
Ayurveda encourages and teaches how to understand and listen to the mind and body. The goal is to live a happy and balanced life with its principles.
Ayurveda is a complementary medicine to every Yoga practice. Following Yogic philosophy means leading healthy lifestyle, including remaining mindful of bodily ailments so as to prevent them naturally from becoming illnesses.
